Hackers infiltrated Washington, D.C.-based Jones Day and stole data on 10 of its clients via a phishing-related cyberattack, Bloomberg said.

The white-shoe law firm disclosed the incident Monday, saying an unauthorized third party accessed a limited number of older files tied to 10 clients. A cybercriminal group known as Silent claimed responsibility for the intrusion and listed Jones Day on an extortion site, according to Bloomberg

Jones Day represents many major U.S. corporations, including Goldman Sachs, McDonald’s, and General Motors, the report noted. The firm was also retained in February to defend JPMorgan Chase in litigation brought by President Donald Trump over the bank’s closure of his accounts in 2021.

Silent has focused its attacks on U.S. law firms, according to a 2025 FBI alert cited in the news report.
